The horror show is coming to the online casino industry; however, the winning potential attached to Spectre Estate is anything but a horror show. There’s plenty for us to dissect in this review, with bonus features spewing from the five reels and 40 paylines being highest on our priority list. There are multipliers, respins and wild assistance that we’re sure most players will find it a ‘bloody’ good time. Is this one of the most rewarding, and perhaps scariest, online slot machines we’ve ever had a go on? Join us in this review to find out.

Microgaming seems to be releasing more and more online slots titles under the Just For The Win name, which we’re not exactly sure for what reason. Regardless, Just For The Win is the name behind Spectre Estate, and with the production budget probably given to them by the mother ship, it’s fair to say that the quality of the visuals is fantastic. The titles coming from this stable are building a solid reputation for this studio, with Aurora Beast Hunter and Rainbrew also having been striking in their looks. It’s all horror in Spectre Estate, with some pretty creepy characters, with a special mention for the ghost bride. Perhaps it’s best playing this game with the lights on if you’re a bit wary of frights, or preferably during the day.

Feature Symbols

Due to the theme that Just For The Win has gone for, it means that the scope for symbol creativity is pretty big, and it could be said that the studio has maximised the opportunity. There are a bunch of characters that resemble people from a scary teen movie, and these are the higher-value ones. There’s the dude wearing headphones, the girl with pink hair, the spirit drinking wine and the deceased bride. The game logo is the highest value of all the base symbols. The lower value icons are ones you find in most online video slots, and these are the playing card suits clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades.

Look out for the wild, which is recognised by being asymbol with WILD written across it. This symbol substitutes all regular iconsto create winning paylines. There’s also a free spins icon. However, you’llnotice that this one only falls in the feature windows above each reel.

Bonuses and Jackpots

These windows above the reels are critical to you being awarded some added value. Usually, you’d need to land a scatter icons three or more times on the same spin, but it’s a little different here. You’ll see that a selection of various icons fall in these windows, which act as modifiers. Should you land two feature symbols in the reel below a window, then the modifier becomes active. There are respins, multipliers, added wild icons and a combination of all of these as a bonus.

Free spins are also triggered in the same fashion, by the Free Spins icon appearing in a window and two feature symbols appearing in the reel below. You’re given eight free spins for achieving this, with two extra spins added for every Free Spins symbol appearing in the windows during the feature.

This isn’t a bad effort by Just For The Win, and we also need to give kudos for the mobile casino version of Spectre Estate, which is visually fantastic. However, with the high maximum bet, we feel a bit let down, and while we acknowledge that they’ve tried to innovate with how to go about landing bonus features, it might be a bit of a miss with a lot of players. Either way, there is potential for a massive win to make your heart skip a beat.
